Parent’s Leave and Benefit Bill 2019

The Parent’s Leave and Benefit Bill 2019, (Bill) will entitle each of the working parent of the new-born and newly- adopted child, an additional 2 weeks of paid leave (payable at the rate of Maternity and Paternity Benefit) and will be applicable to the parent of a child who is either born or adopted from the 1st of November 2019. The Parent’s leave will be in addition to the existing Paternity, Maternity and Parental leaves. This Bill was published on 3rd October 2019 by Minister for Justice and Equality Charlie Flanagan T.D., Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection, Regina Doherty T.D. and Minister of State with responsibility for Equality, Immigration and Integration, David Staton T.D., and is expected to be passed before 1st November 2019.
