Three years after lodging her claim under the Employment Equality Acts, the WRC finally issued a decision that UCD discriminated Dr Anne Leary on the ground of age by its failure to promote her. UCD was ordered to promote Dr Anne Leary to Senior Lecturer retrospectively from 15 February 2015 and to pay her in full the necessary adjustment in salary and any other benefits applying to that post accruing with effect from that date, and in particular, that Dr Cleary’s pension entitlements and payments are upgraded accordingly, subject to lawful deductions including income tax. The WRC also awarded Dr Leary €30,000 in compensation.
